Cooking Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, crack open the eggs and whisk them vigorously until well beaten.
  • Add the sugar and a pinch of salt to the eggs, whisking until fully combined and the sugar starts to dissolve.
  • Gradually pour in the whole milk into the egg mixture while continually whisking.
  • Stir in the pure vanilla extract into your custard mixture.
  • Optionally, strain the mixture through a sieve into another bowl or directly into the pie shell.
  • Carefully pour the custard mixture into the prepared deep-dish pie shell.
  • Place the filled pie shell on a baking sheet, then transfer it to your preheated oven.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes until the edges are firm but the center jiggles slightly when nudged.
  • Once baking is complete, let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  • After cooling, refrigerate it for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
