Equipment

  • Oven
  • Saucepan
  • mixing bowl
  • baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Wooden Spoon or Silicone Spatula

Ingredients

For the Pretzels

  • 16 ounces Mini pretzel twists

For the Toffee

  • 1 cup Light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup Butter sliced
  • ½ cup Light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Baking soda

For the Topping

  • 8 ounces Heath English toffee bits (divided)

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven. Start by preheating your oven to 200°F (93°C). While it warms, line a baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil, ensuring to coat it generously with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Pretzels. In a large, heatproof mixing bowl, add the 16 ounces of mini pretzel twists. Make sure the pretzels are spread out evenly to ensure each twist gets coated in the lovely toffee mix later.
  • Step 3: Make the Toffee Mixture. In a 3- to 4-quart saucepan, combine 1 cup packed light brown sugar, ½ cup sliced butter, and ½ cup light corn syrup. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture begins to bubble.
  • Step 4: Create the Gooey Toffee. Allow the mixture to continue bubbling and swirling for about five minutes. Once it reaches a deep golden color, remove it from the heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and ½ teaspoon of baking soda.
  • Step 5: Coat the Pretzels. Carefully pour the hot toffee over the pretzel twists in your mixing bowl. Gently fold the pretzels into the toffee until every twist is thoroughly coated.
  • Step 6: Spread on Baking Sheet. Transfer the coated pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet, spreading them out evenly. Sprinkle half of the 8 ounces of Heath English toffee bits over the pretzels.
  • Step 7: Bake the Pretzels. Place the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for about one hour, turning the pretzels every 15 minutes.
  • Step 8: Add More Toffee Bits. Remove the baked pretzels from the oven and sprinkle the remaining Heath English toffee bits over the top.
  • Step 9: Cool and Break Apart. Let the pretzels cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking them into clusters.

Notes

Ensure every pretzel is evenly coated with toffee for balanced flavor. Experiment with toppings to customize your pretzels.
