Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the box brownie mix according to package directions. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  • Place 8 ounces of chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water or melt it in the microwave until silky smooth. Be careful not to burn it.
  • Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of unflavored gelatin over 2 tablespoons of cold water. Let it bloom for 5 minutes, then warm it until fully dissolved.
  • Heat ½ cup of heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers, then pour it over the melted dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  • Once the chocolate cream cools slightly, stir in the warm gelatin mixture until well blended.
  • Whip 1 cup of heavy cream in a separate bowl until soft peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Gently fold half of the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture, then fold in the remaining whipped cream until no white streaks remain.
  • Spread the mousse evenly over the cooled brownie base and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to allow it to set.
  • Before serving, garnish with grated white chocolate, fresh berries, or mint. Dust with powdered sugar, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

Quality chocolate matters; use at least 70% cocoa for the best flavor. Chill time is key for the mousse to set properly.
