Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  • In a medium bowl, combine hulled and sliced strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Mix well and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt, ensuring no lumps are present.
  • Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually blend the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with milk.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Spoon the macerated strawberries and their juices over the batter.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with whipped cream.

Notes

Use fresh and ripe strawberries for the best flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. Individual slices can be frozen for up to 2 months.
