Step-by-Step Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of milk, 2 large eggs, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Pour this into the dry ingredients and fold in ½ cup of melted unsalted butter.
  • In a small bowl, combine ⅔ cup of softened unsalted butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon until creamy.
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Pour half of the cake batter into it, spreading it evenly.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the first layer of batter, then spread the remaining cake batter on top.
  • Gently swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35–40 minutes.
  • While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by mixing 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk or cream and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Once out of the oven, drizzle the glaze generously over the warm cake.
