Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions for Christmas Pudding

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, breadcrumbs, brown sugar, mixed dried fruit, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir well until evenly distributed.
  • In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter until liquid. Remove from heat and whisk in beaten eggs and brandy (or orange juice) until smooth.
  • Pour the melted butter mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix until thoroughly combined into a thick, sticky batter.
  • Generously grease a pudding basin with butter and spoon the mixture in, pressing down slightly to pack it tightly.
  • Lay a piece of greased parchment paper over the top of the pudding basin, followed by aluminum foil. Ensure it’s snug.
  • Place the basin in a large pot filled with boiling water, ensuring water reaches halfway up the sides. Cover and steam for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Once steaming is complete, remove the basin and let it cool completely at room temperature before storing.

Notes
